Newly appointed Assessor Kent Bryant was sworn into Office by County Clerk Sandy Collop on Monday November 26, 2018. Kent was appointed as Adair County Assessor on November 09, 2018 by the Adair County Commission after Donnie Waybill retired leaving the office vacant.
On 08-28-18, a new law was signed into effect that required County Commissioners to appoint a temporary replacement within 14 days of a vacancy. Adair County will be the first county to act on this new law.
The Adair County Commission interviewed 7 people whom were all were good candidates for the position. Based upon those interviews, the commission appointed Mr. Bryant to the position of Adair County Assessor.
Mr. Bryant, an Adair County resident, was employed as the Chief Appraiser for the Audrain County Assessor’s, Office. He has held this position since 2011. Prior to this position, he was a residential appraiser for Jack Delaney Appraisal Services in Kirksville from 2007 until 2010. Mr. Bryant started his position on November 26, 2018 and will fill the position of Assessor until the Governor confirms the appointment, or makes a different appointment.
