August 2024 Primary Election
The Primary Election will be held on August 6, 2024
Polls are open from 6:00am – 7:00pm
This years Primary Election allows Adair County residents the opportunity to pick the person that will represent their party for the General Election in November for: US Senator, Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General, US State Rep., State Rep., Circuit Judge, Associate Commissioners, Sherriff, Assessor, Public Administrator, Coroner, and Surveyor.
Voters that head to the polls for the August 6, 2024 Primary will have a choice between four different ballots:
- Republican
- Democratic
- Libertarian
- Non-Partisan (no candidates)
Please Note:
The ballot you receive on election day will only include the candidates affiliated with the party selected, for the districts associated with your current residential address, along with any non-partisan ballot measures. Voters shall cast only one(1) ballot.

November 8, 2022 General Election
Adair County’s Primary Election will be held on Tuesday November 8, 2022
Polls are open from 6:00am – 7:00pm
General Elections allow Adair County residents the opportunity to elect party delegates for county, state, and national level government offices. Ballots may also include bond and local sales tax issues to support various county services or projects.
Photo ID Requirements
To vote in person, voters will need to show a Missouri Driver's or Nondriver's License, U.S. Passport, or Military ID. If you don't have one of these IDs, you can still vote a blue provisional ballot, which will be counted if you come back to your polling place on Election Day with your ID or if your signature matches the signature on your voter registration record.

Notice to Candidates Filing for Adair County Offices in the General Election
Primary Election Day: August 4, 2020
The 2020 primary will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 (the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in August for even numbered years).
The filing period for candidates is from:
8:00 a.m. on February 25, 2020 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2020 (Section 115.349, RSMo.)

General Election:
Incumbents or challengers, who win at the August Primary, will then compete in the General Election on November 03, 2020.
When and Where to File:
Filing opens on February 25, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on March 31, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Candidate filing is held in the office of Sandy Collop, Adair County Clerk, on the 2nd floor of the Adair County Courthouse at 106 W. Washington in Kirksville, Missouri. (Section 115.349, RSMo.)
Ballot Placement:
Candidates who file on the first day by 5:00 p.m. will select a number by random drawing. The random number drawn determines the candidate’s primary ballot placement. After the first day, candidates are placed on the ballot in the order of their filing. (Section 115.395, RSMo.)
Documents Needed for Filing: (Sections 115.357, 115.306, RSMo.)
- A $50 filing fee for political party
- Proof of Identity – Voter Identification card, Missouri driver’s license, birth certificate, or other form of certified identification.
- A copy of an affidavit (Form 5120) which has been filed with the Department of Revenue.
- For Public Administrator a signed affidavit from a surety company authorized to do business in this state indicating that the candidate meets the bond requirements. The Associate Circuit Judge has set the bonding requirement for the Public Administrator at $500,000.00. 473.730(1) RSMo.
Committeepersons: Declarations of candidacy may also be filed for the political offices of Township Committeemen and Committeewomen. These posts are elected at the Primary Election.

Absentee voting by mail(1) or curbside at the courthouse(2), for the June 2, 2020 Municipal Election, is currently underway. Residents can absentee vote by *mail or curbside at the courthouse until 4:30pm on Wednesday May 20, 2020 (*Wednesday May 20, 2020 is last day absentee ballots can be mailed to voters).

The Midterm Primary Election is Tuesday August 7, 2018
Primary elections allow Adair County residents to pick the person that will represent their party (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, etc.) for general midterm election races in November.

The Missouri Midterm Primaries take place on Tuesday August 7, 2018.
Primary elections allow Adair County residents to pick the person that will represent their party (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, etc.) for general midterm election races in November.
Voters that head to the polls for the Midterm Primary will have a choice between six different party ballots:
- Republican
- Democratic
- Libertarian
- Constitution
- Green
- Non-Partisan (will vote on Proposition A only)
Voters, depending on the choice of party ballot, will have the opportunity to select who will represent their party for US Senator, US Representative, State Auditor, State Senator, State Representative, and several county elected official positions (such as Presiding Commissioner, and Circuit Clerk). Adair County voters will also get to vote on Proposition A.

For the Missouri State Representative seats, Adair County voters (depending on their voter registration address and their selected party affiliation) may receive either a District 3 or District 4 ballot.
